Default quick question: difference between d16y8's?

back in the fall i picked up a y8 long block from a local guy. the guy i got it from was under the impression it came from california, because he said the intake mani was slightly different ..or something like that..

is anything on the head different than the rest of the y8's out there because it came from cali(stricker em laws and junk). any design differences or something that might cause leaks or something if i swap it onto my y7

thanks guys,

-Luke

As far as I know, all Hondas are 50-state legal and unchanged from state to state. It'll be fine.

i dunno about the intake manifold but there are minor changes to the engine between 96-98 and 99-00

the 96-98 model is obd2a and the 99-00 model is obd2b and has an extra plug on it...

k i got some pics. notice the differences between the gasket and the mani and the gasket and the head etc.

also on the head you can see some old gasket residue on places the new gasket or mani isn't even touching.

lemme know what you guys think

the difference is in the years. a 99-00 and the 96-98 manifold are different. one has cold start assist or something

you see where there used to be gasket above the manifold on yours... now look at my gasket. see the difference? i think it would run fine either way though

now that i recall, the guy did say it was a 2000

would these differences cause any leaks or anything?

weve got info on this. the 99-00 is different from something called air injection. putting this manifold on a 96-98 car requires that you plug those holes with something

96 to 98 compared to the 99 00 manifold is that the 99 00 has an air injection valve on it it does have something to do with cold starting

Your head is from a 99-00 with air-injection. The manifold is from a 96-98. Everything will work fine the way it is. There will not be any vacuum leaks or problems. Just go for it!

You'd only have a problem putting a air-injection manifold on a non air-injection head.
