Turbo oil feed/return lines, help on sizes, and diagnos a related prob
I'm running a t3/t4, the car was built to where it is now when I bought it and I'm trying to change a few things over to my liking. The turbo is blowing by some oil, and I plan on replacing it, however I believe it is due to the fact that the return oil line to the pan is like 3x as big as the feed line. I'm not really sure on the sizes, but the feed line is comparable to my pinky and the return line is like at least 3x the size of it.
Should I retap the pan for a smaller line, or just couple it down to the same size line as the feed line? Could this have caused the oil to not stay in the turbo long enough, resulting in a blown seal - causing blowby?
thanks guys.

Typical setups see a -3 feed and a -10 return. Those are 3/16" and 10/16", which of course you can reduce the last one. You can probably check a pic over at http://www.fast-turbo.com to see. I would check to make sure your return line doesn't have any kinks or low spots. Also check to make sure the return is above the level of oil in the pan so that it can flow back. Also, do you know how many miles the turbo has on it? HTH.
I'm unsure of the mileage on the turbo, the oil line is free of kinks, I'll have to look one more time to see how high up on the pan it is. Perhaps the turbo just needs resealed, I was just wanting to know before I did it, if there was a cause (such as the lines) or if it was just old age.
