What intake do you guys use? Show pics.
Is it true that you have to take the front bumper off to put on a CAI? Also, does anyone have any problems with water and other crap being sucked into their CAI?
i have aem cai and I really love it. No you don't have to take off the front bumper to install it, All I did was take off the passenger side wheel. I have never had any problem with water getting sucked into the intake.
I too have never had any problems w/water getting up in it. Just avoid huge *** puddles and you won't have a problem. If any water gets in the intake, generally it's a small amount and will evaporate inside the tube before it does any damage.
I had a K&N on the end of the throttlebody. It actually lost HP over stock, but I was planning on going turbo from the getgo anyway...

Yeah, right now I am using a K&N Panel Filter. It works well but I was wondering if there is anything else out there that you guys recommend.

Stock airbox and replaced the filter's pleated paper with Unifoam because I was bored and had it leftover from making filters for my Superstock bike - dunno how much better (if any) it works that stock . I yanked the upper induction runner when I replaced the rad. a month ago and haven't bothered to put it back on
.

i also use a INJEN CAI. works well and fits well. but i had to customize one bracket that holds the pipe to the frame of the car. other than that... nice.

I removed the stock intake and resonator box and used a
3" pipe with KN kone filter. I used to have a short ram which actually
reduced performance!
If a CAI sucks in a large quantity of water it might kill your engine, so this Mugen airbox (replica's are around 100$) is better since it still uses the stock resonator box (which is not only used for reducing intake noise)

Note: The little canister is used to to catch carterfumes/oil instead of routing it back into the intake (manifold), you wouldn't believe the sticky **** that piles up in the throttlebody!! (and reducing performance)

i use the HKS super mega-mushroom super fast goody-go-go sports filter/kit.. it's ok, and has a little better pull to it, not much. i got it for like 30 bucks used and just put a new filter on..
I kinda pieced together my own. It was an old weapon-r runner that came with a used 99 civic si that a friend bought, and he hated it, so he bought an AEM instead.
But the filter on the weapon-r is ****. So I plumbed a K&N cone on there. Next step is the cold air box. Though I have big plans to make a full custom variable intake runner system. You all will be impressed with that, I'm sure. I'll keep honda-tech informed.

i got the AEM CAI.... really felt the difference...... it came two piece.... with the first piece actually being the regular short ram.... so right now.... rainy season.... i have it set up short ram style....
i think the newer AEM CAI come in two pieces, so if you get the water bypass , it can go on easily, i only set it up as short ram during rainy season because we get some puddles in my area..... and my car is slammed to the ground with no inner fender lining making my cold air intake only a couple inches off the ground and easily accessible to water
My question is, can I do like the above post said and take apart the AEM CAI in the rainy season to make it into a short ram? Will it do that? Or will it be in length wise between a CAI and a short ram when you make it only into one piece?
I don't have an EF (I have a 5th gen Accord), but most Honda airboxes, with the exception of the 6th gen Civic DX's, follow the same principles.
I am using a K&N drop in and stock box. The resonator is just added weight to the car and a noise muffler. It doesn't affect performance t all, so if you want noise, pull it, and if you don't, then just leave it. I believe that the stock setup with the K&N works really well, maybe better than a CAI. Besides, I wouldn't want to hydrolock my engine, even when using that POS bypass valve that got recalled.
