Default What parts are needed to swap a Y8 mainfold on to a Y7 block...

Just as the title says couldn't find any thing with a search.
Also can I use the y7 throttle body?
I am new to this honda stuff so I just want a bolt on Civic no motor swaps for my daily driver, just some more get up...

you must suck at searching

here's something to start you off with

yes you can use your y7 tb, but you need to swap over the throttle cable plate from the y8 or you'll have a wierd idle.

good luck

It depends on if you want to stay obdII or go to obdI. There aren't any manifolds that attach to the block..... If you are talking about the intake manifold and you want to stay obdII you will have to use your throttle body with the y8 throttle cable plate. On paper it sounds like a good mod and it looks like a good mod but I don't think it makes much of a difference. The best bolt on type of upgrade you could do to a y7 powered car is either a 92-95 ex or si tranny or a 96-00 ex tranny.... It will give you way more "get up". You will be dissappointed with just the intake manifold swap. For close to the same amount of money. The tranny swap will take a little longer maybe 2 hours compared to 30 minutes for the IM swap but the gains are huge in comparison..

When I did the y7 to y8 intake manifold swap on my force fed y7 it only made 3hp difference a negligible gain IMHO. If it doesn't make another 15hp it really can't be felt.

What exactly is the throttle cable plate? I actually just did this swap and that could explain my high idle.

Car might have a little bit more get up, but nothing fantastic, certainly sounds a lot better during acceleration.
Better air flow, for what, $100? And thats including buying a $12 ebay intake.

The throttle cable plate is the gold half moon shaped thing on your throttle body that your throttle cable attaches too... You can get a tranny for 150 and that will make a huge difference.....The intake manifold swap does not produce a 100 extra dollars worth of performance imho..

if you have a Y7 motor and your gonna put a Y8 head, your gonna also need the intake manifold... you will not be able to use a Vtec ECU because for some reason honda decided to wire up the Y7 motors as if they were automatics... the other reason is because the Y7 block doesnt have a knock sensor... best bet is to go with the stock ECU with a Vtec controller...
