Just removed power steering belt
All of 5 min to do it, should have done it sooner. I didn't notice that much more in power, but the driving is now different. Since I drive a 90 crx I know how it feels to drive a car w/o power steering. Has anyone else done this "mod"?

Yep, this is fairly standard practice for racing. Taking the belt off your P/S and removing the lid from your OE airbox will give you approx a 8 [dyno-proven] HP gain.

So what do you plan on doing with all the weight adding equipment that accompanies the P/S unit? Does taking off the A/C belt mean I have made the car faster or 45 lbs. lighter? NO! It simply means I took the first (and easiest) step in lightening a car. Now I don't know what kind of racing you mean, but if you want to do it right, a manual rack and all its hardware should go in its place. Also, oh, never mind

Our tester came in with more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. We freshened the engine with a new set of plug wires, spark plugs and cap & rotor. Strapped to the dyno, the Civic pounded out 103.9 hp and 90.7 lbs-ft of torque.
Even though our tester had more than 100,000 on the ticker, the Civic was given the go ahead. Our first modification required only a 12mm wrench for power steering [belt - bdc] removal; removing the rubber hose from the intake box was performed in five minutes flat [removing the 'lid' from the filter housing will do the same thing -bdc]. Power figures jumped an astounding 4.1 hp and 2.9 lb-ft of torque, pushing our power level to 108.0 hp and 93.6 lb-ft of torque. Not bad for being free...

bdc are you serious man??? coz i know on sho you do this shiet but your really makin fun of the person
P/S units eat power and waste gas. That's why Honda is going to electric P/S on most of their 'new' cars. Do you think it's 'serious' in their minds?
Why does a 2500 lb. car need P/S anyway? It was answered nicely above; "P/S is for pussies," or more rightly 'soccer moms.' CiViCs are designed primarily for white female yuppies, not 'tuners.'
Secondly, while MY posts aren't to everyone's liking, most ppl say they enjoy them in my private mails, et cetera. I try to keep them interesting; "serious" but not 'too serious.' Example: Since you mentioned sho, I currently have a thread over there with 6600+ views and 400+ replies.
Think you'll ever see that kind of a thread on H-T? I could do the same thing here if the mods would quit 'locking' and 'moving' my threads...
