Default power steering vs no power steering?

im putting a b18 in my civic and i have been debating on keeping the power steering, its not a daily driver, but it does get driven often.
how hard is it to drive a civic with no power steering? and if so what would i have to do to remove it. ( i think i found a thread on that)
but whats everyones opinions? keep it or get rid of it?

Theres a few threads on here.
The car is easy to drive with out power streeting unless your going slow like parking your car in a parking lot.

on my 98 i cant really tell a diff with and with out powersteering except when i was goin slow in parking lots.. but its not bad, just loop it off and make sure you leave enough fluid in there!

btw: its daily driven

Power steering is over rated. My sol has no p/s and I love it!

yea im debating it cuz i need to buy an SI power steering pump, with the ps off it cleans up the engine bay a lil more.
will no power steering cause any damage to the rack?
also will running just 1 belt cause any damage since normally there are 3?

I hear that parallel parking is a serious nightmare.
Try turning your wheels when your car is off... it's kinda like that
If you don't live in a big city, it's cool.. Or if you have something light
like an EG hatch or base EG civic, it's not gonna be that bad.

Gains you a good amount of performance, but it definetely has it's tradeoff.
I'm going through the same thing: need the SI pump
Definetely gonna keep my PS though. A/C is not going back on though

yea i never parallell park, mainly driven to and from car shows, so only parking would be at shows or my driveway which is straight.
hopefully take it to the track this spring aswell.

i have a gsr rack in my 94 civic ex and it was a bitch to turn the steering wheel when the front camber and toe were at zero. now i have ~-2.4 degrees of camber and 1/16th in. toe out on the front tires and parking is a lot easier than it was before.

My CX w/o PS wasn't too bad with the 13" rims it came with, but when I put the 15s on I could tell a difference when parking, nothing major. Personally I like no PS, i't just one less thing to deal with IMO.

parallel parking is not like turning your wheels with your key off, i dont know what car your driving but mine is still damn easy.

for all you guys bitching about not having ps, it dont take much to move such a light damn car.

i have no power steering in my cars. if you have it why not just keep it. just make sure you have the p/s brackets for the b18 and the pump. just bolt up your stock line to it and all should work. and if youe are planning to take it out, its not that hard to drive it. i been driving with no p/s for 5 yr

i have to get a usdm 99-00 si pump for it to work, or else the lines don't match up, so i was considering my options, also the cheapest route.

i too have P/S. it's really not bad, but i am looking into converting to non P/S.

how did you get rid of your? did you loop the system or just swap out the PS for a non PS rack?

The only time it makes any difference is at a dead stop or very near dead stop.

People that make comments need to specify if they're talking about a P/S rack with the pump disconnected or a manual rack.

W/out PS I picked up 4 highway mpg!
