Default 89 CRX... No hEat.... Coolant flowing, but still no heat... help, it's gettin chilly

So my climate controls are al bashed up...well not really but the temp **** is bashed off... i'm replacing it in a couple weeks probably but in the meantime:

i popped my hood

took the cable off the valve on the coolant line that goes into my firewall

opened the valve up...

coolant is flowing... heater hoses are both warm... but in the car i get no heat.

is there another valve or something i need to do? it doesn't make sense to me that the coolant is flowing through the heater core yet when i turn the fan on i get no heat. it's ALMOST slightly warm... and that's all.

i just bought the car so something could be broken i'm sure but if someone understands the heating system better than me (ie. everyone) please post your opinions and conclusions.... it's kinda chilly out at night when i get off work at 11 or midnight...

Thanks in advance.

yeah there is a valve under the dash that you need to switch. I had the same problem with my CRX. All I call remember it that you had to get to it from the passenger side. GL

i think i know which you're talking about... i played with it a little but once i opened the valve under the hood and the coolant was flowing i pretty much gave up on trying since there was still no heat and to me it seemed like there should have been.

My friend took the car to work this morning... i'll mess with that as soon as he gets back with it.

Thanks... hopefully i'll have heat tonight when i get off work!

Yeah, the other valve is almost straight back from the passenger side of the center console. It is almost at the firewall. You can follow the cable back to it. Good luck.
