Default Trying to change brake pads...and i have a problem

I took the caliper off so i could use a c-clamp to push the piston back in, but the piston is stuck. That sucker is stuck! i tried everything i could think of to push it back in, but it wont work. I even took the whole brake line off. Any suggestions?

there is a tool called a brake pad spreader. It's less than ten bucks at your local auto parts store.

Not sure what car you have, but if it is the rear brakes for the integra (probably most Hondas), the piston actually screws in clockwise. There's a special tool, but you can improvise w/ a plier or screw driver sideways.

What Vitt1 said.

If it's the fronts, make sure you aren't trying to position the c-clamp on just a small piece of the piston. That puts a bit of a side load on it. At best it won't go in...at worst if you overdo it, you could damage something.

Try putting an old worn out brake pad against the piston, and putting the c-clamp against that. It'll even the load.

If that fails...you might have a stuck caliper. It shouldn't be hard to press in if you're doing it right.

Did you take off the master cylinder cover? Could be the simplest things that are overlooked. I do it all the time!
Other than that, whatever you do, dont step on the brake pedal. Or else you will have to rebuild them (make sure no fingers are in the caliper if this where to happen--its always nice to have 10 fingers ). Rebuild kits are cheap if thats the case.

don't forget to take the cap off the master cylinder...
leave a pad on the piston and press clamp the c-clamp onto that
