Default Brake problem

Hi, did a search already. I undid one bolt on the brake caliper to take off my pads and while the caliper was swung up I pumped the brakes to see if the piston was working fine. But the problem is now the piston is extruded a lot and i cant swing the caliper back into place. How do i make the brake piston move back down???

Cheers

C-clamp for the front calipers. Big screwdriver for the rear calipers. Do not push in the rear piston. The rear piston must be turned clockwise. Take the lid off the mc when you're pushing the piston back in. Hopefully your caliper isn't ruined

Get a c-clamp. An 11" c-clamp is $10 at home depot. Make sure the piston goes in straight or you'll get squirted with brake fluid and also have a ruined caliper. Brake fluid eats paint so be careful. You shouldn't be able to push it in by hand.

It doesnt seem to be goin back in even with a c clamp. Does this mean I have to bleed my brakes?

If you bleed you brakes you'll probably push the piston completely out. The piston needs to be installed to bleed the brakes. It can be rebuilt. I'd just get a new caliper if i were you.

At this point, you may as well put new seals in it, because you've probaby mangled the seals and a leaky caliper is no fun. Although I might suggest finding someone who has a little more experience, so you have functional brakes when this is all over.

Next time put a block of wood in the caliper when you press the pedal!

is your brake fluid cap off while you're using the c-clamp?
