Default Question about TypeR snow wheels

I just recently picked up a set of steel rims that came off a TypeR for my MX6. When i went to install the wheels the pcd matched up perfectly, the center bore was a tiny tiny bit smaller but it fit on ok. i tighten down all the lug nuts and for some reason no matter how tight i made them it just didnt clamp the rotor into the hub enough and when i went to drive the car it shook violently like if you loosened all the lug nuts halfway but they were as tight as i could get them

what can i do to remedy this? i was thinking about using a spacer and open ended lug nuts

You could use MX6 wheels on your MX6...

no its definitely 5/114.3 and the lug pattern bolts up perfect it just isnt torque'ing the rotor to the hub right

Most likely the center bore is wrong. Maybe the stock mazda size is a bit larger. I'd guess you are not seating the wheel entirely and the shaking is due to that, sorta like loose lugs.

are you using honda lugs, or mazda?
honda uses ball seat lugs to fit on their wheels, and mazda uses acorn lugs. they will not seat right if they are not the proper type of lug nut.

Ball seat lugs are acorn lugs. Did you mean to say that Mazda uses tapered (conical) lugs?

However, I'm betting that splitime is right, that the center bore is the problem. The hub has a lip that the center bore (the big hole in the middle of the wheel) is supposed to just barely fit over. The ITR wheels have a 64 mm center bore. If the Mazda hub needs a center bore that is larger than that, the wheel won't be attached securely to the hub (because the wheel sits on top of that lip instead of around it), and it will wobble.

so even if i had the right lugs...which i think is the problem, because now that i remember from my integra steels the lug nuts were completely different...it still wouldnt work. what about using a spacer to push the center bore of the wheel off the hub and using the lugs to maintain the stability?

also would the lug nuts for say a civic si be the same lug nuts as a type r?

couldnt i also just bring them to a wheel shop and have the center bore enlarged enough to fit the mazda hub?

Having a "lugcentric" mounting, rather than a "hubcentric" mounting, is very iffy, because it's easy for the wheel to be ever so slightly not centered, so that a vibration and uneven tire wear (and worse, loosening lug nuts) can result. Not recommended.

Yes.

Maybe. But if they don't drill it exactly centered, again, you are asking for problems.

You would be much better off selling the wheels and getting some that are designed for your car. MUCH better off.

yeah i am aware of the difference of the two mounting styles and i had taken that into cosideration but i guess ill just give it a shot and if it still sucks then ill just sell em and replace em
