Default bad gas = limp mode?

Is it possible that a bad tank of gas could cause the car to go into limp mode (no vtec)?

I filled up recently, the car sputtered a few times leaving the gas station, and was in limp mode for a while, everything else running fine (I guess). It has since come back (vtec), however, and I am wondering what the hell was going on.

Check your oil level?

Did you get a CEL? If no I'd guess low oil level

Yes, the oil level was ok. I always have a CEL because of a straight pipe, so that's nothing new.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Spyglass &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Yes, the oil level was ok. I always have a CEL because of a straight pipe, so that's nothing new.</TD></TR></TABLE>

so you know what the problem is then.

the secondary o2 does not cause it to go into limp mode. It reads the air/fuel from the primary o2.

I'd check your CEL to see if something new is coming up

Possibly your primary o2 is bad. I had a similar problem with terrible gas mileage and irregular idling and found that my o2 was the problem.
