Default water temp?????

does anybody know were the cluster reads water temp from. i have a civic with a type r motor. when i take the motor to around 8k the temp on the cluster goes straight to H. but the aftermarket guage i have hooked up directly to the radiator stays at 150F. just wondering if the cluster is reading from somewhere else that really is getting hot from coolant not circulating so the guage on the radiator stays cold
tried changing the thermostat, didnt make a difference

Your radiator hose may be clogged like mine was. Any way, I just bought a water temp gauge and I need to know where you installed the sensor for the gauge.

the sensor for the aftermarket ga. is on the oppisite side of the drain plug.

you said your hose was plugged. did you have the same problem? was it the upper or lower radiator hose
