jdm h22a stock harness+p13 w/ obd2 car?
after a bad experience with a premade harness from a honda tech member i wont take the time to recall or mention, i am starting fresh.
due to the fact that i no longer have my obd2 harness that was on my 97 d16 to begin with, i want to attempt to use the stock jdm prelude harness with the obd1 p13 as well.
i have the obd1 prelude harness, and whats left of the crappy harness previously installed. the old harness was a concoction of obd2(i guess civic) harness adapted to my h22 and then to the obd2a-obd1 adapter to the p13.
using what i have along with some new wire, does anybody have experience setuping up a harness in this fashion? i would appreciate any tips/knowledge on how i should go about this. if i could figure out how to get this done i'd definately be willing to draw up an actual detailed full diagram of the wiring harness for this setup.
the h22 thread at the top of the hybrid forum is way too disorganized, most of the wiring info is based on the eg with the simple obd1-obd1 piece of cake wiring. most of this is just fragemented info about pinouts for obd1, leaving me nothing to understand the deal with building a harness for my setup.

You have a a few things against you:
-Prelude harnesses are laid out differently then OBD2 civics (and other civics)
-Your stock harness is a one piece, the prelude is two
-It is a RHD harness

Take some pics of the harness and maybe we can fix it. It will be probably easier to fix than make the prelude one work.

Think about this. The prelude harness (you probably only have the engine harness) it s two piece harness, so that means it only goes to the shock towers. That means you would have to extend EVERY wire that sops there on that harness to where it needs to go in the cabin. And remember, it is a RHD harness, so the connectors are on the opposite side of what is over there in the preludes. It is going to be a BIG hassle.

Agree, but no mod really every comes in here, let alone, tries to clean the forum up. I mean, the forum is not bad where they need to come in there a lot, but it would be nice to clean that thread up a bit.

thank you for your response and the link in your signature.
the fact that the prelude harness is two pieces and goes to the wrong side is pretty much the small bit of info that i already knew. (and yes you were right i only have the engine portion. the thing is...i did electronic assemley for a couple years and i have all of my own tools for this. extending every wire for me would be not a big deal. i am going to custom hide all the wires anyhow.
i would rather use the prelude harness and just extend every wire as needed to the sockets from the old harness that was on the engine if it saved me some major brain time. is there alot more involved than extending wires? would this be easier or harder to accomplish than just creating an entire new one from scratch? i want to do whichever involves the least amount of knowledge, as i am new to this and i am also on a time budget.
basically using the harness i had on my engine is NOT an option. i think the fool even used some really old weak wire.
i think the link in your sig along with the picture of an obd1 ecu pin out should be enough for me to get this done properly eh?

yeah because we all know time is better well spent harassing retarded 04' members and such.
lol. i just had to get that punch in

Those two do not go good with this:

In a sense, no. But you have to remember, not all the wires go to the ECU. You have to know (or research) what/where wires go.
Ex:
IABs:
Pink = A17
Yel/blk = injector voltage or 12v.
MAP:
Blu/wht = sensor ground (D22)
Red/wht = ECU signal
wht/blu = sensor voltage (5v) (d17)
Sensor ground(s) combine at a connector then go to D22 Or D21. Some voltage (not map) combine the same way and go to D19 or D20. The ECU pinouts in my sig will not tell you this.

See above, if you have the right diagrams it is easy, but very time consuming.

You will have to learn a bit about car wiring harness and how they work.

What is so bad about it? it is that bad you cant even fix the mistakes?
PM me if you do not want to say in a post.

Maybe, but you will hit walls with only that info. You need the prelude and civic wiring diagram. Remember, EK civics engine wiring harness connects to cabin harness by the ECU.

well i removed all the covering from both harness's and layed them out next to each other in the garage. i am going to use the jdm harness to see what isnt right with the engine wiring for the civic harness. using the colors will help figure out what is what. i have the helms manual for the prelude but it doesnt make much sense to me because there is not diagram of the complete system, just fragements similar to the h22 honda tech thread.
hopefully sometime soon ill have created a harness that works i guess.

i don't have photoshop on this shitbox so i am going over to a friends house to bring it up on his computer later, do you think that those images expand clear enough to read? i want to size them up, save to cd and maybe go print it out on a large map sized paper at kinko's. its all about nice schematics!

do you have the full size ones? we-todd-did resizes them to the point of making all the tex pixlized. can you please email me them if you do. toofarfromjune@yahoo.com

I can print them out and they come out perfect. The only problem is that the way I have to make a image of them. The program kind of limits you so you can not copy and paste info.

in that case ill email you my address and that'd be awsome if you could send em over. just let me know if you ever need a tps or map sensor for a honda of your's and i'll be sure to hook you up.
thanks!
thanks!
