Civic Radio Problem

I have a 94 Civic Ex model. Ever since I've had had the car, the radio doesnt ever pick up clearly. It plays cd's and tapes great, but the radio has always been staticy. I took the radio out and checked all the wires, and they we're all in securely. Does anyone have any idea what causes it to do that? Or is it just a bad antenna, and I should replace the antenna and wiring?
