1996 Honda Civic CEL problem
Hi , I have a 1996 honda civic EX-Vtec manual transmission and the engine just got overhauled.
Now for the problem. When driving the if you stay at 2000 RPM or higher without shifting for five to ten seconds the CEL will go on this will remain on until i turn the car off. I have tried driving again the next day and tried to avoid staying steady at 2000 RPM ot higher and not speeding and the check engine light does not go on. My conclusion is that the CEL turns on when the RPM meter Stays on at 2000RPM or higher if left for more that 10 seconds without shifting.
1. I have tried disconnecting the battery for more than an hour removing the positive and negative terminal hoping the computer will reset. and also removed the fuse in the computer box in the engine bay and also the fuse for the radio/clock inside the car under the steering wheel.
Anyone have any ideas waht is wrong with the car ?
ps. i do not have any access to the machine that checks the computer error codes.
