Default anyone with a b18c in 88 and up crx. point me in the right direction.

Well I want to start off by saying hi ! I'm new to this forum, so I'll give you a bit of info to go on... I have an 88 hf, and a 96 b18c1, that i want to swap in. I am taking my time with this, so it is done correctly. I'm looking at either Hasport or HCP mounts.

Well my question is this, where can I find a good step by step on the swap? With a good list of parts needed. I know hasport has one, but they also have everything they could possibly need to make it go smoothly. If you guys can help it would be great, also any personal experience with this would be cool too. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'll throw this in the hybrid forum as well.

Ok, I should have all the stuff for this one. You will need to run a mount kit. I recommend HCP. For the price, it is the best kit on the market. 4 eurathane mounts with adjustable shift linkage. Next, if you are going all motor with this setup, I recommend either a S1 or a J1 cable bseries trannies. If you are going turbo, I would get the YS1 LS cable tranny. You will make some money from selling the GSR hydro trans off that swap. Next thing.....ditch the stock intake manifold and get a skunk2 manifold. You will eliminate a lot of problems with the secondary butterflys. As for the wiring....the best way to do it is, keep your stock HF harness, convert your car to OBD1 and run a chipped P28 ecu, reuse the 96 distr, get some OBD1 injector and run one of my OBD0-OBD1 conversion harnesses. You can also use the Pr3 first gen b16a ecu, distr, and injectors....but those ecus are hard to come by and the distributors always go out. I have most of the stuff you need to do this swap. Also, I can wire your car for all the vtec sensors too. Axles, you can just get the ones for a 90-93 teggie and get the intermediate shaft from the same car that the axles come off of. Here it is:

HCP mount kit = 410.00 shipped
OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness = 140 +shipping
Chipped P28 = https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=106162 (awesome deal)

I have a 98 JDM B18C in my EF. Let me know if you have anymore Q's.

Jason

Sell the GSR transmission.
get either an S1, J1 or a Y1.
The Y1 has a bit longer gears, but for a B18C1`on a light weight CRX, it's actually better geared.
swapping the motor is no biggie. I have used hasport (3 mounts), and HPC (4 mounts) I preffer the hasport kit. the HCP front mount is a joke.
You will need to remove the under hood support to clear the valve cover.
The only tricky thing is the engine management.
you can go OBD1 or OBD0.
OBD1 you need to go with blown90hatch's set up
(rechipped ECu, OBD1 injectors and OBD1 distributor)
the other option is OBD0
with that you need 90-93 integra injectors
PR3 or PWO ecu, you can find it on ebay, about $180
you would need a JDm B16 distributor, or a 88-91 CRX HF or Si distributor
the CRX distributor needs to have one of the legs cut off, but once you do that it woks just fine.
definitely dump the GSR intake manifold, but keep the throttle body.

I have swapped about 5 b18C1 on EF's and EG's, and personally, I think the OBD0
is the simplest way.

Good luck

the HCP front mount is a joke.
OBD1 you need to go with blown90hatch's set up

The front mount is a little difficult to get the first time, but it takes some patience. It makes a big difference with holding the motor.

You CAN use the OBD2 distributor. The only thing OBD1 you will need is the ECU, and INjectors.

wich way will be more cost effective, and yield the best performance, the obd0 setup or obd1? And I am putting some serious thought into Blown90hatcH's conversion. Oh and thanks for the info guys

More cost effective.....and might want to think about more efficient and less pain in the butt:

Pr3 = 200 or so...but kinda tough to find
Pr3 Distr = 150 or so...not too hard to find...but always go out.
Pr3 injectors = 50 or so...easy to find
Less power and less smooth

OBD0-OBD1 harness = 140 +shipping....readily available
Chipped P28 = 185 or so...readily available
OBD1 injector clips to use the OBD2 injectors = 40 bucks
More power....very smooth running car with OBD1

Up to you man. Let me know.
