D16Z6 questions?
No, this isn't one of those, omg how do I put a Z6 into my car? More like...
Im buying a D16Z6 tomorrow!
And a 4th gen si tranny!
It has no accessories on it (the Z6) besides exhaust manifold. So I'm wondering if the starter, alternator, and a/c compressor are the same for my D15B1 in my STD. Also, when he pulls out the engine, how can I tell it is a Z6. I know there is a stamp somewhere on the engine block, but if you could decsribe to me where it is or post a pic of where it is. That would be perfect. If I buy a hondata s200, can I engage vtec (NOT VTECH!) myself? I'll post pics if I buy it tomorrow.

As far as I'm concerned, all the D series alternators, starters, A/C compressors will fit on the engine. You can tell it is a D16z6 by looking at the code stamped on the block on the left side of the exhaust manifold. You'll see a flat area usually it has oil stains over it. Just get a rag and wipe it off and you can tell. If you get a hondata chip, yes you can engage Vtec at any setting it has been programmed to.

The wire harness from an OBD-0 Will not plug into an OBD-1 p28 ECU. You will need a OBD-0 to OBD-1 conversion harness. There are a few reputable makers on the boards that can help ya. Blown90hatch being one of them.

But I am also pretty sure you can get a vafc to activate Vtec on a pre obd car.
