Throttle Body
I have a 97 ls, and i was wondering if a 95 ls throttle body is the same as mine? I know mine is an obd2 and the 95 is a obd1, and i didnt know if that matters. I also know that somethings are different about the motors, but i didnt know if they have the same throttle body. I need a new tps and i dont want to pay for the dealership to fix it and i dont want to drill out the rivits in mine. I found the 95 ls throttle body on ebay and i was wondering if it will work?
Thanks.
Thanks.
MAP sensor and TPS are the same and interchangeable.
The only difference is that the OBD-1 throttle bodies have a fast idle thermo valve. Personally, I don't like using throttle bodies with the FITV b/c it's unnecessary and just another part that can fail.

Thanks for your help. I am not going to get it because i dont want the fast idle thermo valve. My friend has a 94 teg and he has to put a new fast idle thermo valve on his car because his is broken.
Will a 97-01 gsr throttle body work on my car?

change n tps is simple. just unbolt the TB, take a dremel or hack saw and make a slot in the rivets so that u can turn it with a flat head screw driver. then reinstall a new tps sensor. u might wanna reuse the screw that u put slot in to screw back onto the TB. i also think u need to recalibrate the tps. not to sure, i need to look at my helms manual to make sure

You need a throttle body gasket that's compatible with the non-FITV throttle bodies, otherwise it'll have a vacuum leak.
In this case, you would need an OBD-2 P72 throttle body gasket if you wanted to use an OBD-2 GS-R throttle body.

Myself I always match the throttlebody gasket to the T/B itself.
obd1 gsr T/B uses obd1 gsr T/B gasket (94-95)
obd1 ls T/B uses obd1 ls T/B gasket (94-95)
and so on you get the idea right?
obd2 (96+) T/B's dont have the FITV on the bottom so the gaskets are a bit different but as long as you match the T/B year (obd0, obd1, obd2) and model (ls,gsr, itr, etc.) you should have no problems. I also looked quick to see if a b series T/B will match up with a dseries manifold and they are the same. It would be good idea to port match the bigger T/B to the smaller manifold though, it will flow way better and make the change more worthwhile.
Just another little note on obd1 T/B's. The FITV can be bypassed by making a block off plate out of aluminum and sealing the plate to the bottom with hondabond or ultragrey sealer. The hardest part of doing this is lining up the (3) 10mm holes on the FITV and transferring them to the new alum. block off plate, but its not that hard to do though. Hope this helps you out, Good luck.
