Default What Kind of Master Cylinder should i get?

Hello all. I'm in the market to get a new Master Cylinder for my 91 CRX that has a B16 engine. One thing that is pretty apparent is the breaks are pretty squishy. So its time to get a new master cylinder. Now i know I can go and buy another CRX master cylinder and get it up and running in no time, but sense I'm doing it I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade the Master Cylinder? If so what kind do you CRX-Heads suggest I get. Thanks a lot and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

the 88-91 prelude the 89 accord and the 90-91 civic ex (each 15/16") all bolt right on with no need to swap booster like the 90-93 integra setup. For the prelude and accord MC's you must bend the line slightly but thats not an issue at all. Good luck

I'd get the 15/16" from an EX. No bending of the lines necessary.

the line bending sounds bad but its really just making it more straight so that you can screw the flare nut onto the MC,,,it really takes about 15 seconds...

Will the master cylinder/brake booster from a '89 Accord LXi work? I also heard that one from an Accord wagon was bigger and would work.

don't forget if u change the rear to disc to get a prop valve while u are at it

but I would get the booster too myself but then again that is me

I just see it as if u really want stopping power why not have the pressure there too for the fluid to be send faster>>>??

You can probably get a rebuilt one from most auto parts stores.

I recently swapped a Del Sol Si booster to my crx with the oem brake booster and the brakes were shitty.. So I also got the master brake cylinder from the Del Sol Si and they sucked even worse...Im going to be replacing my master cylinders soon... Which one should I get ?

i'd go for either the 15/16" (88-91 prelude/86-89 accord) or the 15/16" (90-91 Civic EX) one. the first one is cheaper, but requires a tiny bend of one line. you can also run a brace for this master cylinder (see sig) .

the 1" integra master cylinder require you to change booster and modify the lines. and some strut bars dont clear this set up.

the difference is 1/16". ever look at that on a ruler? its hardly any difference.

PS- dont buy a used MC. get a new one!

I'm gonna threadjack this just real quick.

When doing a rear disc conversion with the 40/40 prop valve I understand it is a good idea to swap MC. Should I go with the Integra MC and swap to a new booster, or go with one of the others that doesn't require a new booster. I am basically concerned w/ not having to put the brake pedal to the floor. TIA.

So... A brake master cyl. from a 88-91 prelude will work with a brake booster from a del sol si with no problems right?
