Hey my buddy just bought a D16A from japan, and hes swapping it into his 95 civic ex that has a blown D16z6.

Does anyone know if it is a direct plug and play swap?
and if it isn't what are the differences.

I was looking at it today and i noticed that the hoses/lines on the intake manifold are different.

All help will be appriated

 

well theres 2 d16a's..the d16a1, and the d16a6, but your saying JDM, neither of them have vtec, i know that, but i can tell you more once you know what one it is ;-)

 

is it legal to swap an older motor in a car in WA?

 

I didnt know there where JDM D16As I thought they were known as ZCs....

Did u get a SOHC or DOHC?

In japan they dont put numbers behind the last letters... for example over here its B18C1 over there its B18C, over here we have B16A1, B16A2, B16A3 over there we have B16A... Sooooo, if it is from japan it wouldnt have D16A6 or D16A1 just D16A if it exist...

 

Is the d16 that you purchased an obd 1 or an obd2 motor?

The guy he got it from said it was from a 95 ex in japan or something

Its my friends car, but it says D16A on the motor...

And has a black wrinkle painted Vtec valve cover (stock part + paint)

It was from an auto car, but he didn't get the tranny.


Front looking at it really quick i noticed there were missing some line outlets on the back of the intake. like less vaccuum line outlets.

Other than that how do i kno for sure if he has an obd0,1,2

 

put the Z6 IM and distributor on it, then it shouldnt matter what OBD it is. hook up the harness.
