How would I go about putting a tachometer on my civic dx?

How would I go about putting a tachometer on my civic dx?
2001, auto. I forgot what that area is called, where the speedometer is. Is that the gauge cluster? I want to put it in there, but would I need to take my existing one out (speedometer, gas, engine heat) and put in one that already has one?

Don't buy off a dealership!!! Those folks will charge hella alot for them. Go to a junkyard and get one, or simply buy it online like here on h-t classifieds.

For an EK, it's two screws and some clips to get the bezel out, then 4 screws holding the cluster in.
For an EG, it's a little bit more in depth because you have to take the bezel out, and it's for more junk holding it in, but it's still a 20 minute job.

If I could have found a decent spot to put one (not the A pillar and not the little bezel guage clusters) I would have gone with an aftermarket tach as well. OEM Honda tachs are notoriously off.
