Default B-series IAVC

hey guys just a quick question..

got a really **** idle/throttle problem at the moment.

Intake been checked and cleaned.
Manifold and T/B Checked and cleaned.
Sensors checked and cleaned and my mechanic has narrowed the problem down to a busted spring in my IACV.

The problem is that i idle really high (and it hunts quite oftern recently) and when I back off the accelerator the car jolts like its stalling.. mainly evident during gears 1 and 2... and a bit of 3..

Checked engine mounts and injectors.. both are fine... as well as replaced spark plugs and leads and fuel filter...

Anyway, my question is are b series IAVC interchangable?

I am able to get a b18c IACV, is this a direct bolt on to my JDM b16aII SIR?

i was having the same problem, (i have a b16 in my sol) had a couple things you might want to check out, my bolt holding my rotor button came a little loose causing the car to "fall on its face" under hard acceleration, also air in coolant system, try bleeding your system with the bleeder right where your upper rad. hose meets your head. after you do that, reset your ecu, and your idle speed, should be good to go... or your IACV is bad

Before you going buying parts, check it first. You have two holes inside your throttle body. The top one going to the IACV, the bottom going to the fast idle valve. Get the car warm (engine running), if you plug the top one and the idle goes back to normal, it is your IACV. If you plug the top one and it goes back to normal idle, it is your idle valve.

if you plug the top one, and your idle goes back to normal, you really don't know much cause you just stopped the air that your engine is supposed to get.

if you plug the bottom one and your idle fixes, then you screw your idle air thermo valve plunger back in.

Explain. The air that is suppose to "get"? with no loads on the motor, the IACV is not doing much.

the motor still needs air to idle, where do you think that air comes from? When you cover up the top hole, you're covering up the hole that the engine needs to suck air in from.

My eng check light doesn't work, so I dont get cels =[ im lookin into fixing it...

No i havn't checked/cleaned anything yet.. plan on doing it soon, my mechnic asured me 100% its my IAVC and that a spring is busted in it... but then again hes a mechanic...

thx for the replies guys... the main problem for me is the throttle..

When I ease off the throttle the car just jolts like its stalling... it makes changing gears difficult cuz i either cop the jolt or i ride the clutch...

No, unplug your IACV, that means it is closed. Do it on a warm motor, that means the fast idle is closed. You will see that it is still running. It may not run right, but it is running.

Sir_JDM, get your CEL light fixed first and go from there.
