Default installing type s pistons without honing.....quick

Ok I need to get my motor back together, I pulled the head last night, and from what I can see the walls look good. I think the ringlands are cracked.

Can I get stock bore type s pistons and not have to worry about anything? Meaning I dont hone. What do I need to do about making them fit the stock rods.

soory I dont have time to search, I need to figure this out by tonight.

you will need to get 97+ rods or have the 92-96 rods rebushed to accept the floating wrist pin. if the clyinder walls are fine, just use some new rings and slap the pistons in there, keep in mind if you do that you will need to go beat the **** out of it *** soon as you crank it up or the rings wont seat.

Sounds like a very bad idea to me to cut corners after you've got the whole damn thing apart.

ok where can I find h22a4 rods for cheap, and also, should I just use the rod bearings from the a1 rods and put them in the a4 rods, since the a1 rods are mated with the crankshaft wear?

also whats the rule of thumb on wether or not I need to do somthing with my sleeves? The fingernail scratch rule?

I remind you that the engine is still in the car, and Im doing the piston and rod swap with it in the car, trying to see if I dont have to pull it out.

Honing is not necessary. I did it on my motor and it went great.

yea I dont think honeing is nessacary either, I mean it would be one thing if it was bad in there, but I can always pull the head every 3 months and check.

you need to match the bearings with whatever rods you use with the crank..

Honda has 3-4 different bearing sizes depending on how worn your rods are. You'll need to measure it.

If I were you, I'd hone it to break the glaze. Those rings may or may not seat right, and you'll be burning oil and fouling plugs like a mother.....It's a toss up..I'd also get a bore guage and check for any variation...

If your engine currently has good compression, you can put the old rings on the new pistons. When you take them out, keep track of where they were and put them back the same way with the new pistons. Should be fine that way. If you are changing rods/bearings, measure the clearances and get bearings the right size. If you are on a tight budget, you can re-use bearings that are still in good shape, just measure clearancees.... Good luck.

Do NOT hone stock H series sleeves! Your asking for trouble it will most likely smoke and the rings will not seat. I have done a few setups with these pistons. I only put oil on the sleeves to help the piston slide in easier when putting in new rings. And you do not have to bush the rods either IT will work with the clips that come with the type-s piston set. I reccomend using stock honda rings also. Just my 2cent but what do I know
