Default I'm new to this forum. Help me out.

I know this isn't about eg civics or del sols, but I tried posting this up on the General Discussion and Debate section and it wouldnt let me do it yet. Why would a topic get locked? and also what the purpose of having to wait two weeks to have full access the the web site?

because its a stupid topic that serves no purpose (kinda like this one, you could have read the rules)

and because we get an influx of retards that only come here to sell stuff or start trouble, if you wait the 2 weeks you obviously want to be a member for more than just to cause trouble.

And who the hell determines if it's a stupid topic or not? I asked in another topic for info on how to build an itb and all most ppl in this website know what to do is go off the subject and start talking about other things that don't matter. Or write down stupid smart *** remarks like the one posted here by kamin.

kamin, i'm gonna have to agree with the new guy, your post was a little unnecessary.

guy, what kamin said is sorta on track tho. new members aren't allowed to post in GDD (General Discussion and Debate), or the classifieds until they've been a member for either 2 weeks or they've racked up a certain amount of posts. i'm not sure what that post count is. its just to make sure the site doesn't get flooded because like kamin said, a lot of people come here just to sell stuff, and some people, especially from other forums not pertaining to hondas, come here to make fun of honda guys and start trouble. its just kind of like a safeguard against that stuff. so if you stick around long enough to be able to use GDD and the classifieds, you probably came here to actually use the site.

topics will get locked if the moderators feel there is wrong information in the thread, or if the thread is just a bunch of bickering or people cussing eachother out and doing other unnecessary stuff. sometimes that stuff isn't caught by a mod for a few days, but it will get locked eventually if the thread is bogus enough. read the rules and they will tell you a little more about it all.

welcome

Hey...I also just created a user name on hondatech and wasn't sure why i was restricted to certain forums...but, i guess i found my asnwer here. Now, after the 2 week period, do I automatically become a permanent registered user or do i have to do something else from there? Thanks for the info.....btw-my friends and I have been using hondatech for quite some time now to find out answers to questions and help other figure things out , so, i just wanted to say i'm not a newb (lol), but just newb to having an actual user name . Thanks guys----Mike (maximumpsi2)

the rules determine if its a stupid topic, im sorry if you think im an *** and i have smart *** comments but you are a newbie so you dont understand the amount of people that come on here to do NOTHING helpfull for the site. if you are actually willing to stay, learn and help, welcome. but if you dont follow the rules and make stupid topics you wont last long.

Welcome to HT.

i must say the rules do leave for a little of an akward beginning. being new you are only allowed to post in technical forums. that being stated how do you introduce yourself? you can't really. it seems that the only posts you can make in the beginning would be a problem you have [with your car] or an answer to another users problem.

it would be nice if there was a "newbie" forum where you could introduce yourself and the car/cars you own. but hey, who the hell am i???

It used to be that way but we had too many trolls joining the site and spamming it.
