b18a1 b18b1 head??

Default b18a1 b18b1 head??

i have a b18a1 in my 90 crx si and today i was given a b18 b1 head would it help my car performance to switch to that head i know i would get alot more out of a vtec head but this wwas free , and has anone used this setup before thanks. oh and the b18a1 is from a 90 not the newer one with a little more power thanks

btw 94+ are 142 hp w/ a different I/M but pretty much has the same build up as the 92-93 platform and yes different engine code(B18B)....

Now would be a good time to do alittle work on the head before you put it on.. Maybe a port and polish, valve work, and upgrade to the 94+ intake manifold.

it will be minimal, but the ports have slightly cleaner casting in most cases.. as time goes by, any good manufacturer improves their processes. the head might have less mileage, might have slight changes in valve angle or certain material composition such as guides or rocker pads, etc. im not sure on the camshaft.. perhaps its updated a little over the b18a1 but thats only a guess. if you have to change for some reason, do it. if not, i dont think it will be worth the expense of a new headgasket.

thanks for the info from what u guys said so far think im gonna just hang on to it for now look for the intake from a 94 + send head to the shop maybe by summer put it on after i get my current setup to the track , see what the difference is eventually i would like to go ls/vtec , just lack of funds right now thanks again ( not totally postive yet just what im thinking right now )
