Default Starting to build my motor.

I am finally starting to build up my motor. Haven't had the TEG to long now and probably have more in parts, than what I paid for it.

Here's my start:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...52737

I just called payntechnologies.com and asked them how much for the head install. They quoted me around $1,000.00. Plus any misc parts that I'll need for the swap. Such as water pump, timing belt, dowel pins. Anything else that you can see?

I also asked him how much for a basic block build. I was quoted around $3,000.00. This includes a blueprint, new bearings, and rings. I wanted to go with new pistons, rods and micropolish the crank, but that is much more than I think I have.

Does this all sound resonable, and is it really worth it to pay the $3,000.00 just for the bearings, rings, and blueprint. And if so, would I gain any HP from this?

I think I might just do the head install and spend the extra money on something else.

Any suggestions?

That setup sounds good man. You should def. try that head install yourself and save some money. Below is a link from Teamintegra.net that gives some good info on DIY head swaps. Good luck.

I might just have to try it myself. I know none of the stuff on the head is lubed, so that's my first step. I need the GSR timing belt and water pump too. I also need to lines for the oil feed.

What would I need to get for my ECU? Anythign else I'd need to try it myself?

So $3000 just for the build? If so no deal.

Import builders has built blocks for that price where everything is brand new. I would check them out the blocks are like 2900-3100 $ Thats probably where I am going to get my future block from if I dont build it myself.

The whole thing for the installing of the head, building the block, misc parts, and anything else neccessary is $3,000.00. Head swap only is $1,000.00.

I just didn't think that only putting new bearings, rings, and blueprinting would make a difference in the build. I could be wrong, but the extra $2,500 for that seems like I coud go in another direction.

all that money wasted on a engine build, you should get some better brakes, suspension 1st then build up a motor, Better brakes=much better car

You could spend a couple thousand and just buy a Dart block instead of massaging that old block. Really not worth it in my opinion.
