Default Tranny identification

I just purchased en ef with a b16a in it. The owner told me that the he swapped his transmission for a gs transmission. I have never heard of a gs transmission. Anywasys, how can I identify which hydro tranny I have?? The gears seem long in the car so I might have an ls tranny. What is my best tranny option (I'm in a budget) for a NA car.

Integra GS, I believe (not positive) very similar to the LS. 94-00 had the B18B1 w/ hydra. tranny. So did the the LS and the RS.

You have whatever tranny was on the 94-00 GS/LS/RS more than likely although I don't know the #s.

it's a 1988 Civic hatch. I suppose hydro means "steel rods linkage" right? So did the b16A come with a cable tranny? I am so confused!

you should see a black cable going to an arm going into the transmission. Next to the lower radiator hose, im pretty sure it's cable. When you say gs tranny i assume it came of a b18a engine (1990-93 integra). you should have a marking on the tranny saying ys1 next to the b16a block stamp. The ys1 marking doesn't really help distinguish between a gsr tranny and a b18a tranny since they share the same stamp. My bet is you have b18a tranny.

ok so I have the "steel rods" with my tranny. What kind of tranny is that? Did the B16a come with a cable tranny? I know what a cable tranny is because I am doing a K20 swap. I just want to make sure if the b16a tranny was cable or not. Also I would like to know which tranny I should swap for.

You shouldn't be asking these questions if YOU are doing a K20 swap

The reason why I don't know much about the b16 engine is because I never thought I would get one. I have done most of my research on the H22 and K20 motors.
