Default Need help with Valve Cover Bolt!

Ok, earlier we spoke (another topic on H-T) and I went ahead and ordered the bolts fro my valve cover. I recieved them and didn't think anything of their size. Then today I get the cover off to find that the Front two two bolts are smaller than the rear two bolts. They sent me the rear two bolts.

They being Majestic Honda (hondaautomotiveparts.com) -
I went to their site today and they only show one bolt type in this diagram(#14 - non-vtec cover). Where in the heck is the other one?? I need 2 of them ASAP because I done something really stupid. I broke the other bolt tightening the nut ontop. It broke sooooo easy I can understand how the other got broken now. why would they use such weak bolt?

I checked to see how bad the oil would leak with those two missing, and it's pretty bad. Not spewing everythwere but just idling for about a min. yelded a good amount of visible oil seeping through pass the old gasket, which I didn't replace with my new one because it's not worth doing so without having replaced that originally first broken bolt and definately not now.

Anyone here on HT got 2 for sale? Hit me up.

You don't have a junkyard nearby? Junkyards are bolt city

Diagram is confusing..........What engine/Year do you have ? Note - the list indicates required quantity = 2....This diagram looks like a D16Y8 but the Y8 cover does not have VTEC embossed on it...even though it is....VTEC.
Are you sure you don't need this one:

There are a few junkyards nearby but I've never really went a junkyard and gotten something. Been to two, only spoke to a person at one but other than that they don't seem like the most user-friendly places. More like everyone for themselves type of thing around here

I have the D15B7 enginge. Non vtec, and the valve cover it has is the valve cover diagram on the right hand side of the image on the page I posted the link to originally.

I am the guy on the right hand side:

I ordered bolt #14 thinking that all 4 were the same size. They're aparently not. #14 fits the back but not the front, the ones in the front are smaller. I need 2 of those front ones.

Could I remove both broken bolts and use standard bolts ran straight trhough to the original holes to hold the cover down for now?

* Oh, wait, I can use that permatex ultra grey to seal the side thats not bolted down for now, couldn't I? Cause the oil is coming through under the gasket, the top part is like liped into the valve cover, thus it's not as easy to come out as the the bottom.

My dumbass friend broke two off of my hatch, luckily it's not my daily driver, but i'm still pissed cause the snow is coming and I won't be able to drive it much longer and the shippment hasn't come in yet. hmph. My friend said he barely tightened them down and when he was doing it they just popped, but I didn't believe him. Well now that someone else said that they didn't tighten them much I believe him.

So people can I use the Grey Sealant? I'm going to try it never the less.. wish me luck. I can just scrape it off if it doesn't work. Logic is working with me. I have a picture of one of the front two bolts that I can't seem to find online. It's the darker bolt to the left.

What I could do is totally replace both front hold down bolts with standard ones that won't beak, but I think those bolts might just be used to hold down more than the valve cover since it would be convienient for honda to do it that way.. if you know what I mean I need to know if these hold downs are used to hold anythign else in place, because if I switch over to a noral bolt something could go neglected.

It's number #14 in the upper left hand corner.

dude they help hold the whole freakin rocker arm assembly together.
don't mess with that, just get the honda ones and be careful when tightening them down. Just remember this, you don't need that much pressure to keep the valve cover on and sealed. torque is 7ft lbs.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Realise this. When I ask for help, I want it in a friendly, informative and non-sarcastic manner. Thats how ask for it, thats how I want it given back.

And what do you mean, don't mess with it? You want me to ride around leaking a quart of oil every mile? I can double nut the rod to hold the rocker arms and cover down simultationously.

Thanks for responding though.
