94 dx radiator with a 99 si b16, temp guage goes up and car overheats and starts releasing pressure from the resevoir. radiator cap works. thermostat has bout 35,000 miles on it just like the motor. another thing i noticed is the lower hose is cold. i tried burping the system........any ideas why it overheats?

would the thermostat be a reason for making all my coolent evaporate?when i take off the radiator cap, no steam or water bubbles up, just the resivour goes crazy with boiling water and steam coming out of it.....i have no cracks on the hoses or the radiator and the cap has just recently been changed.

Coolant evaporate? Try "burping" the system and see if that fixes it before you replace the thermostat. With the car cold, remove the radiator cap, fill the radiator completely full with water, and keep the hose handy. Turn the car on and let it heat up. Keep adding water to keep the radiator full until the temp guage is at it's normal position.

That should fix it if it's just an air pocket trapped in the cooling system. If not, then it is most likely the thermostat.

after each overheat i do burb the system just like discribed by bauleycivic. is there some other odd reason i get these damn air pockets?
if no other reason then im gonna go ahead and replace the thermostat.
