Default TDC sensor? please help!

Hello everyone. okay let me cut to the chase. I just bought a 1989 Acura Integra LS hatch w/129k 5spd with new timing belts, waterpump, new tires and clutch for only 1500.

okay, before i left the private dealers house. i test drove it.. man it was running VERY GOOD!..UNTIL i was driving home.... the "check engine"light came on.. i soon found out that it was the TDC sensor? honstly. i dont know what that is.. and how much would it cost me. to get that damn light out. so i can pass smog.

Maybe '89 isn't much different than my '95???
TDC sensor is one of the toothed-wheel sensors down inside the base of the distributor. Look for wiring problems - loose, corroded, connections.

Take off the distributor cap, rotor, look around in there. Red dust is bad (bearing). Broken pieces are worse. I guess you can't buy the sensors, you have to buy a distributor.

Your tdc timing or ignition timing might be off have it checked by a mechanic or buy a timing gun and adjust it your self.

basically in a nutshell
most of us here dont have a 1st gen integra.

but if is the same as the the second the sensor is located in the distributor
so check another distributor that will solve the problem
