Axle nut stuck.
Ok so last night I hit a deer, fucked up my fender and hood and i had to rip it apart so im starting my b16 swap at the same time. I poped out the axles and am trying to get off the axle nut but the hub keeps spinning, even with someone on the brakes. I went out and got an impact gun, and my compressor is all the way up to 120 psi and its a real puss. I think if it wasnt for the hub spinning i could get it off with a breaker bar.
Any sudjestions?

put the car on the ground and put the wheel on. have someone step on the brakes so the car wont move. put a big breaker bar on the nut, has to be about 5 feet. and hang on it or jump on it till it comes off.
What kind of impact gun is it? A trick we use is to take some air tool oil, and fill up the gun until it's coming out of the air fitting, I mean FULL. Plug it up and wail away. Breaks stuff loose that wouldn't before.

i use the oil trick all the time. i've amazed my friends and family alike with it. its a risk but i have put a screwdriver in the rotor vents and had the caliper hold the hub still to break the nut loose.

Combinations of those is how I got my nut from hell off -
1) Torch the bastard using a MAPP for about 3 minutes
2) Spray PB Blaster Liberally
3) Torch again
3a)While torching, have someone get in car and apply the brakes and put the car in gear. If working on the passenger side, put in 5th, if on drivers use reverse.
4) Attach socket, breaker bar, and a standard 3 foot extension that you would get from a floor jack and then proceed to push down as hard as humanly possible.
And this is how I got off the nuts even though the tabs had welded themselves down. Broke right through them

ive busted breaker bars on mine
i use a torch and heat the hell out of the nut to expand it really fast then hit it wiht the bar. that normaly does the trick
torching for a long time will heat both the nut and the axle. so it wont help at all

i injured my elbow pretty badly when a 1/2 drive impact socket shattered with me hanging on a breaker bar. ive also had axle nuts that when they broke loose, chunks of the other mating surface tore out and was stuck to the back of nut. now i have a 3/4" slide bar and massive sockets for this purpose. if that wont do it, i remove the whole spindle.
for my brothers talon I ended up using a 8ft. cheater bar. To do this I rolled the car into a wheel chock then had him stand on the brakes while i bunced on the bar. A very quick way is to slide a chisle into the vents on the rotor through the inspection hole on the caliper, but I dont believe that would hold as well as the former method.
Well if the nut is stuck i suggest torching the thing cuz the bolts on my buddys down pipe were tightend with an impact and they got stripped. We torched em and they came off easy, just make sure RIGHT after u light em to loosen them RIGHT after,...

Right on the money! I can have an axel nut off on only a few seconds this way without screwing around with any lubercants or heat. I had a hell of a time years ago before i knew how to do it, but once i did whats listed above its been
every time!
