Default 32 mm axle nut, IMPOSSIBLE !!!!

Ok, here is the problem. I'm trying to take axle nuts off and I have tried just about everything, from 3/4 inch breaker bar to kick *** impact gun. The thing would not even move, they are at 132 lb.ft and I had over 300 and nothing. Any suggestions tips ideas how I can get those @$%@ nuts undone. One thing I have not tried is HEAT. I'm ready to take my car to shop and simply get it fixed, usually that's my last resort.

TIA

I believe the solution is a 1500 ft-lb air powered Impact gun.

Talk to DragII about his axle nut experience or do a search.....he went through a lot of crap to get his off the above is what he used.

first try and chissle off the pinched nutt.... cutt part of the nut if you have too.... that use a breaker bar with a long pipe(ghetto but works every time for me) at the end to get torque and losen it.... if all fails take the whole sprindles off and get a new one

patience. make sure the nut has been tapped out. try putting something on the end of the breaker bar like a long pipe to increase your leverage. sometimes i have to stand and jump up and down on the nut while the wheel is still on the car and on the ground. just be careful not to scratch a fender

Long breaker bar and torque it down to spec next time. I've never not got an axle nut off. Breaker bar or impact always do the trick.

search in the tech forum, ive asked this before. some heated the nut, some broke breaker bars, some replace the spindle, and some drink a lot of beer to get it off. haha. lots of things work, just figure out what kind of mechanic u are.

The Civic crank pulley bolt is 130lb-ft...I used a 1/2 breaker bar and just stood on the bar...I didn't jump on it or try to "shock break" or whatever it off, and it just twisted off smooth as butter...no sudden crack or noise, it just unscrewed itself. It was the first time that bolt was removed too, so I know it wasn't messed with cause I am the only owner of the car. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows...but like that guy in the other post said, you might need impact gun with that super high rating, that might be the only way. Good Luck.

Just get a good high quality 1/2" air impact. I have a HD Ingersol rand and I have yet to find an axle nut it can't remove. The crank pulley bolt is another story though. To get this tough bitch off you need a good 3/4"impact gun. My 1/2" just couldnt do it. Its one of the first bolts that it couldnt beat.

everytime we remove them, we just get a 1/2" breaker bar and a 2 foot metal bar extention and jump on the damn thing. comes off everytime!

Kinda hard to explain but I did it the ghetto way. First you have someone in the car pushing the brakes. Then you put the rachet on the 32 mm nut. Then I used a jack to push the rachet up and it finally came off. Use jackstands always. Also use a good ratchet because I broke one this way. Also if it is staked then unstake it because it will never come off staked.

Remove the nuts while the car is on the ground with tires and rims on. Make sure the parking brake is on, and also have someone inside on the brakes. It is a BITCH to remove them while the car is on jackstands.

if you have some aftermarket rims, and if you can take off your CENTER cap
don't take off your wheels, put the car on the ground
use a break bar along with a long pipe if the breaker bar is not enough, put the socket on and use the breaker bar as normal
then stand on the bar, jump, or whatever...
i would suggest u do wrap some cloth on your pipe, or else it will scratch your rims

I've never had a problem getting the axle nut off. I have an Ingersoll Rand 2131A and it works everytime.

Sometimes it pays to buy the more expensive tools. Not always though, my friend has a Snap-On impact and it weighs a ton more than mine, neither gun are lacking for power but his cost like $150 more. Snap On go figure
