Default Code 71, what to replace?

Cylinder 1 Misfire or a Random Misfire a condition is present that is creating a cylinder misfire

I am getting this code again. First time a new set of spark plugs fixed it. The plugs can't be more then a month old.

What should I replace or test? Distrib, wires? All parts are original and have 110k on them.

Please help me as for I am at work with an hour drive home.

Thanks in advance.

Check the plugs first if you can first...make sure they didn't mess up already.

I know my car smoothed out when I changed plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

I forgot. I replaced the cap and rotor not too long ago.

New plugs and wires, ok. Would the distributor throw its own code if bad?

I have the same exact thing, code71, but after i checked the code, the engine light went off, and never came on again

I have replace spark plugs only, the car has 90k miles on it. (runs smooth, but getting 20/miles per gallon)

I am thinking to replace the wires and cap and rotors soon. If I figure out how to do that.

What does compression have to do with this?

on lunch, i jiggled the wires around on dist and now it runs ok.

I hope new wires after work will fix it for good.

yeah.. at 110k and still on the originals, there's a mighty good chance your wires are shot.. I replaced mine at 60k..

I got this code when I melted a piston, and ya it ran like crap. Do a compression test.
