Default Header Heat Shield ?

Hello,

I wonder if the header heat shield is necessary ?
Is there a disadvantage to remove it ?

Thanks

Extra heat in the engine bay... heat radiating towards the a/c fan... rusty header visible.

not necessary, though it does what it name infers, which is shield heat

YES

*dramatic* difference in before/after underhood temps. Maybe someone with a thermocouple could get some numbers?

It is not a heat stopper...
It is a heat shield...

It helps keep heat in the exhaust system.

The real question is : Is there a heat shield sold with DC JDM Header (or other like this) ?
If NO ! Why ?

Only the JDM Honda 4-1 will have fittings for a heat shield...

It keeps the ambient heat from the engine bay from heating up the exhaust manifold. We wouldn't want that thing to get too warm...

I took mine off when I noticed one of the bolts had just fallen out and I thought it was rattling. As it turns out, the rattle didn't go away, but I left it off anyway. Maybe I should put it back on? What do you think, an instant 10 hp?
