Steering wheel removal...what's up with that damn plastic panel?
My search efforts only came up with D's suggestion to just brake the damn thing off. I'm about to that point, and my BFH is all ready to go!
Does anyone know the proper way to remove the black plastic panel on the right hand side of the steering wheel (the one that covers the other torx bolt)?? I know there are a ton of people who have removed this, so I would love some suggestions. I don't want to have to just break it off if I can help it, since it will need to go back on someday.
Just seeing a picture of the back of the panel will show me what I'm after. Helms is no help in the regard. Thanks for any help!!

Where the cruise controls go?
use a thin flat blade screwdriver and fish around in there....
seeing the back side of another one will help.

no clips... just tabs on the inside of the cover.
it is easy to remove if you know where the tabs are and you can pry near them.

That pic would kick ***. I've stuck a pen light just about everywhere I can and I can't see a single one. Strange, since the other side was so damn easy (like it should be, heh).
no pic, but i have the cracked one sitting right here.... fuggin need aleph and his digicam.
2 tabs total. top and bottom, kinda near where that 90 degree bend is. wish i could explain it better.

I can't recall having a problem with this when I installed my quick release hub. You're talking about the top and the bottom plastic pieces right? There are just some tabs that you pop off.

You can be sure I'll take a pic of mine to help anyone in the future.
FYI, my vote now goes to "brake it." I got it off without anything getting broken, but now I'm thinking about stomping the little f**ker just to make myself feel better.
Thanks guys! I might actually get this wheel on today

hrm... "brake it", or "break it"...

hmm..i must have been lucky. mine came off without breaking
I used two flathead screw drivers. One to open a gap, and the other to work in, and underneath the panel.
