Default OBD2 shell with an OBD1 motor HOW DO YOU CHECK THE ECU CODES?

I have all the wiring done for this but the motor isnt in the car yet, when i put it in am I going to use the plug that comes from the 96 civic to check the codes? OR do I need to wire in a service connector to the ecu like the obd 1 style? The motor is an obd1 gsr and the shell is a 96 civic dx. ~Thanks!~

The car is obd2 though so there wont be that plug to jump. My question is do I need to wire that plug to the ecu then wire a bulb for the cel on the ecu side??
