Default Need some advice from my fellow teg owners

Well I'm sitting here on the phone w/ my ex gf and for some reason she got me thinking about what I want to do with my car and how much money I'm looking to spend on it.

This is what was the plan for my gsr.

AEM CAI :DONE
HEADER :DONE
Exhaust,v-afc,itr cams,cam gears/valve springs/retainers/ and dp n2o kit.

Now that was the plan, but I'm now thinking this

I/H/E + JRSC (and the other little goodies to go with)

I used to be totally against the supercharger just because I'm not really pleased by the little power it made. But I was thinking of what I really want to do w/ my car. Of course with Nitrous I'm going to tear down the track and the races. Hopefully netting around mid 13's w/ the set up I had planned. Oh and a clutch too . But then w/ out the nitrous for daily driving, which I do alot of, the supercharger would be alot more fun.

Then again at the races and track I wouldn't be as fast but thats only what a couple hours a week. While the rest of the time I can have a daily driver that is fun and packs a pretty good punch. Now I don't know what times people get out of JRSC'S, I've seen 14.00's and heard of some high 13's and have even heard of a 13.5. Which I think is great. So thats what got me thinking of what I really want.

I figure I could say up the money for the S/C in about 3 months. 3 grand, also there going for pretty cheap and I may have some left over money for other goodies then I'd be done w/ my car.

What do you guys think. Stick w/ the original set up or go with the SuperCharger ?

P.S. Another think that makes me nervous about sc's is I've raced one s/c'd ls w/ a jrsc/i/e and took him pretty bad, btw, I was stock w/ a passanger. Then I caught him again w/ I installed my intake. Raced on a horribe road, I spun all the way through first and still spanked him the whole way down the road. Another one of my friends w/ a STOCK lude raced his friend w/ the same mods..black s/c'd ls and took him by half a car. The only think on the lude is unbolted exhaust and at this time he was running a 15.4 at the track stock w/ all his seats taken out and the unbolted exhaust. All this got me thinking that the supercharger wasn't worth it. Now we could just be beating the driver, then again I drove horribly when I raced the s/c'd ls.....

I say get the SCer. You can get about 200whp at 6psi pretty easily. That should net you at least mid 13's at the track. If you go to 8psi and do some more work, you should be able to run low 13's. Plus you'll have torque...

The JRSC for LS Tegs absolutely sucks. They used the smaller blower that is used for SOHC Civic kits. It only makes about 160whp and less torque all the way around compared to a SC'd GSR.

sorry but a sc doesnt put a gs-r in the 13's. my freind has a gs-r with a jrsc and the liquid injection cooler. best time on 8 pounds is 14.4. so if u want real power just go with the turbo. cost bout the same as a jrsc. u'd be glad u did 200 whp wow. now how does 250-300 sound, at a touch of a button.

The one worry I'd have with running 250-300whp is foritifying the bottom end, which costs lots more $$$. It really depends on the amount of $$ you want to lay down. Turbo sure would be nice though. Then you could play with the bigger boys!

You guys make a good point. For the longest time I've wanted a rev hard stage 2 kit. But it all seems so much. I mean with the turbo and the build up. The results are incredible yes. But what about the maintnence on the turbo. I remember reading a post about GSRw/BOOST saying the turbo was starting to "nickle and dime me to death". But I'm open to all options.

if u want fun daily driving and net 13's at the track the greddy turbo kit would be perfect....quick spool up and running 8lbs should do it nicely...

The SC is fun, but once you go past 6 lbs it can be a hassle unless you go with a Standalone. The most you'll make with the SC is going to be around 230-240 with all the boltons and engine management. You'll be fast, but with the money you would have spent you could have been at 300+ with the turbo. Its a matter of what you want to do, if you autoX definitely go with the JRSC. If you love to drag race go turbo or Nos.
