is the splined shaft that comes out of an assembled tranny supposed to be hard to turn?

a buddy of mine had his tranny rebuilt and he wants to know if the shaft that comes out of the assembled tranny is supposed to be hard to turn?

Should it move freely or should it not be able to move by hand?

Even with a full set of new bearings it should turn by hand.

somethings wrong... the shaft should spin pretty freely... easily by hand... and through all the gears as well

Agreed....it shoudl spin with relative ease
