Comptech Supercharger installed: 232 whp on stock injectors
After several months of waiting, Comptech finally installed their supercharger in my 2004 Type-S. Mine is their first customer car, very exciting. The design uses a newer version of the Rootes G62 Gen IV blower, one where the bypass valve is integrated into the blower assembly. Comptech also uses a specially cast manifold that has actual runners and space for adding a soon-to-be-released aftercooler.
The Stage 1 kit will be submitted for CARB approval, which means it uses a fixed Hondata reflash and the stock 310cc injectors. Which also means the injectors are the limiting factor and the kit will use a 7900 rpm redline as the stock injectors get to 100% duty cycle around there. My car is currently configured that way. We dynoed 232whp at 7800 rpm on Comptech's Dyno Dynamics dyno. On that dyno, my car did 175 whp stock with just the Icebox, and 192 whp with AEM CAI and K-Pro. This to give you a point of reference with the dyno that reads a little bit lower than a Dynojet and a lot lower than a Dynapack.
Next step will be installing larger injectors so we can put the redline back up to 8600 rpm and retune the car for those. I won't be using the RC Engineering 550s, but got a set of Power Enterprises 510s instead. They came highly recommended.
With the standard 3.8 inch pulley, the Comptech blower does just under 5 psi. They already have 3.6 and 3.3-inch pulleys for higher boost applications. The aftercooler should be available within a couple of months.
So the RSX community now has a choice of superchargers, the one from Jackson and the one from Comptech.

Thats awesome. Good numbers for what should definately be a reliable blower. Are there any plans for a base rsx blower?
Good numbers, yes, especially since they will only go up once we put in the larger injectors, set the redline back up, and then start exploring higher boost with the pulleys.
Yes, Comptech is planning on a supercharger kit for the base RSX and also for the Civic Si.

I thought ~80% was as high as you should take it without something "bad" hapening

not true. Acura (or more correctly Honda) the factory wouldn't install this. If anyone, it'd be your local Acura dealer. Your dealer does not represent Acura or Honda of America. They just sell and service the products of Acura/Honda. IF (big if) your local Acura dealer installed this (and they'd charge you an arm and a leg....and a kidney) then it would be certainly be waranteed as a installation of an aftermarket component. That is, they'll warantee that the install is done correctly and according to aftermarket manufacturer (Comptech) specs. Even if you had the Acura dealer install this and you blow up yer engine because of boost, that same dealer can probably successfully deny you your engine's original warantee. It'd be irresponsible but it'd be within their rights, at least I would think.
Why? Well if you pay me to install your turbo kit and I tell you that I will money back and repair guarantee that I install this correctly. If you blow your engine up, don't come to me. I installed the parts correctly. Not my fault you weren't aware that you can't push 20PSI on stock internals. It'd be irresponsible of me to not tell you that, but it's not my job either.

One of the dealers around me sells JR blowers. I asked if it would be covered. He said no it would not. But it would be on record that it was on the car so let's say that you blow your motor, then take the blower off and say it was under warranty they will not cover you what so ever because they have it on there records that it was installed by them. BAD IDEA to have dealer install mods.
my acura dealer has installed many comptech blowers on cl's and they fully warranty the blower and motor. being from comptech and as long as you keep the crb legal kit the fully warranty it. they also do the headers/exhaust, etc. maybe i just have a good dealership. i know this because i asked when i was buying my rsx and knew comptech was in the process of making a blower kit for it.
