I've search and got some answers, but still have not fixed my problem. I have a 2000 ITR. The Vtec is only working at times. And when it does work, it kicks in at around 6,500-7,000 rpm. ITR's are supposed to kick in at 5700 rpm. But a lot of the time when vtec engages, it kick in and out and hesitates to redline.

I am not getting any codes or anything. The engine oil is also fine.

Anyone have any ideas? Please help.

its a long shot, but have you checked your dizzy?

 

dirty VTEC solenoid? change those gaskets. Low oil pressure? Lets hope its the first of the two.

 

I've checked the solenoid and it works. It clicked when 12v is applied to it. I also checked the screen and it was not clogged at all and was suprisingly clean.

How do I check the dizzy?

 

checked you oil level lately?

 

vss loose?

 

Oil level is fine.

The VSS is on the tranny right?

But if the VSS is lose, wouldn't the speedo act up too? The speedo reads fine though.

 

any ideas? Please help.
