D16a6 mild build questions
Goal is 135whp.
I was thinking roughly 10:1 compression, i think I could achive this with D15B2 pistons and slightly decking the head. For a cam probably the Exospeed SR909
(duration: Int=272 / Exh=258). i'm not entirly sure if that would get me there, but it would be safe enough to run a little squeeze on it, like a 50 shot, which would get me there.
11:1 compression using D16A1 pistons and the Exospeed Race A6 cam (duration: Int=272 / Exh=272) should get 135whp fairly easy...right? Of course gas milage will suffer horribly.
I was thinking maybe the nitrous so that i can still have the car be fairly streetable and retain some fuel economy most of the time.
Engine is having mild port work done, full rebuild, and tuned w/ turboedit.

i recently put an A6 together with PG6B pistons and no milling of the head, running a Y8 gasket to yeild 10.3:1 compression. i have a ported head, a cam comparable to most companies stage 4/race cam, Y8 intake manifold, 60mm TB and bolt ons. it was pretty quick. i didnt get a chance to dyno it because i put a 50 shot on it the day before going to the track and broke the ring lands on cylinder number 4 running stock timing. i didnt get a chance to dyno it, it was street tuned with uberdata. im thinking it was probably in the 120-130whp area NA. this spring i will probably put together a simular setup with the same head and 10.6:1 compression and i am sure i will have some dyno numbers for that motor as i dont intend to spray on it, so it should stay together for a long time. so just a head up running a 50 shot on OEM pistons with higher compression like that. might want to retard your timing like 2 degrees to start with to be safe. i was spinning this motor to 8K as well, so that probably added a bit of stress

fyi...pm3 pistons in a d16a6 with y8 headgasket and no mill will yeild around 11.2:1 CR

those are d15b2, correct? I wonder where i went wrong? might work out though, 11.3:1 and a SR909, hmmmm.
Just for fun, here's the rex that is getting the engine:

was mine, but i sold it to my brother.

d15b2 and d15b7... i would do more research before using these, i havent heard of anyone using them before. they are flat tops and will come out of the block a bit on a d16.

I'll do a test run, god knows i have enough A6's around here (1-y8, 3-a6's, and 1-d15b2)
who knows, maybe it will turn out good.
