Yes. IMO, go buy your gf a set of Winter Package from Tire Rack or buy her a beater
for the safe side.

I drive my stock tires in snow all the time in the winter, it's fine.

but if you really worry about ur gf's safety. then get her some snow tires.

What Brand and model are the tires, as I'm sure they have been replaced?

i would only trust snow tires on the R if i were to drive it in the snow. however, the car is very capable in the snow.

Haha, what? Really? I did ONE TIME (stock RE-010's) and never did again. Living in Texas, visiting sister in Missouri.

I found some used blizzaks on 16" wheels (off of an S2000) and they work great. Lately Chicago winters have been weak though.

Stock ones on 98+ were Bridgestone Potenza RE010, summer only. was 97 different?

Stock RE010's are not all season. Only summer. Handles like **** in the snow. RE910's are all seasons, handled pretty well for me in the winter. But now it's just a garage *****. The Dunlop Sport A2's are pretty good for all season performance as well.

Winter tires are not just for snow, but also for cold weather. I don't recommend the stock RE010 or other summer tires for use in Chicago winters. Summer tires don't grip very well when it's frigid outside, even when the roads are dry, and Chicago has had plenty of cold weather the last few winters.

Disclaimer: I have a set of stock-sized winter tires for the ITR for sale cheap at https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1056060 They're mounted on ITR wheels right now. You can buy them with the wheels, or you can buy just the tires and go pick up a set of steel wheels (around $150 new from the Tire Rack, may be some used ones that fit). I'm in Chicago so you won't have to pay for shipping.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Armando, ITR #543, I believe, asked me last week if I knew anyone that was interested in a set of Black steelies 5x114.3, with snow tires on them. He's in Chicago too. If you want, I can give him a call and ask him for a price.

WoW the mis leading info on this post....

Stock ITR tires should never see snow, You will either fug up your car or yourself if you attempt it.

Get winter/snow tires and the car will be fine, IF the snow is deep then you might want to take off the fron lip to prevent any damage.

i drove my 97 R in the winter/snow the first 2 years i owned it. i just bought the winter tire/wheel package from the tire rack with a set of artic alpines and the car went great. i wiould suggest doing the same i would want to get caught in a surprise snow storm with anything but winter tires on my car.
