burping/backfireing sound when trying to start engine

Default burping/backfireing sound when trying to start engine

i have a 91 crx dx and it sounds like its birping or backfireing from the intake, its the stock engine and it really sucks ***! i just got the car to! i want to fix it but i dont want to wast 400 bucks when i can put that twords a new engine can tall tell me what is wrong with my car i really need this car running! anything would help even if you arnt sure what it is put what you think, i think it has somthing to do w/ the fuel system the engine turns but dosnt start and it make that sound! plz help!!!!

Check the timing belt. It's probably jumped teeth.

My money is on rotor button being loose. Take the distributor cap off and check to make sure the tiny screw hasnt come out of the rotor.

I say check both it really could be ether. But if its backfiring while trying to start then its timing.
So check all related. It could posible that the sensor in the distributor also went bad.
