Crankshaft Timing gear thingy question...
(edit: LS BLOCK)
Okay, so I finally get the engine running and I notice that the timing belt is rubbing on something... it's somewhere on the block, possibly the water pump housing??? The belt slid on the gear sideways and got closer and closer to the edge of the cam gears/h2o pump gears, etc... But when it's like that, it's rubbing on something in there... what do I need to do in order to fix this? the only thing I can think of is that somehow the gear on the crankshaft that the timing belt goes around on the bottom is pushed in too close to the oil pump... is there a way to fix that? The little circle thingies are in there and everything. (They were a little rusty, but I don't think it'll matter, will it?
Anyhow, if anybody knows the correct way to put that gear on, maybe has a picture or something (LS block) let me know... much appreciated.
