Default clutch / tranny slip ???

today i was driving home normally. i dont really beat on my car. so when im in 3rd gear cruising and i hit the gas pedal it were as if the clutch was slipping. the rpms would raise very slightly, and the car would barely vibrate. however, it only does this in 3rd.
1st, 2nd, grab fine, and if i hit the pedal while crusing it does not slip or show any indication of slipping. it does in 3rd.

also if this has anything to do with it i let my girlfriend drive last night and she launched around 6k a couple of times on accident but not a complete dump of the clutch she more or less feathered it.

any ideas?

how do i go about checking the clutch?

is it possible its just air in the clutch lines?

Have you ruled out everything else? I thought my clutch was shot until I found out my Clutch Master Cylinder was leaking.

Check your resevoir for fluid, if empty, look around for any possible leask. Preferably, look under your dash, where the clutch is. You'll see a black rubber grommet with a "rod" going through it. Feel for any fluid build up.

Next, look under your hood at the resevoir. Look for any leaks in that area.

Loow below it at the Clutch Master Cylinder, check for any leaks on the fittings.

Now, follow the clutch lines all the way from the CMC, along the firewall to this 2 way connector. One end goes in, the other end goes out. Check these 2 fittings.

Contionue to follow it to the front of the transmission where it connects to the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Check that for any leaks.

If none, bleed your clutch lines for any air that might of gotten trapped.

A rule of thumb check on your clutch is this, drive your car normally until you are about to shift to 2nd, but instead of shifting to 2nd, shift to 5th. If your car REALLY bogs, your clutch is ok, it's grabbing. If not, and it just revs, your clutch is shot.

Default Re: (Dimi)

thanks finally i get a reply from someone.

i didnt see any leaks i did a quick look.

the fluid is dirty however and ive been planning a bleed forever, i will see how the temprature it tomorrow to see if i will be doing it.

other than that its all i can think of.

i hope thats it. the funny thing is that sometimes its almost normal other times most noticably in 3rd gear it just slips bad. if i very quickly stomp on the pedal for just 1 second the rpm's shoot up less than 100 rpm and then you can feel it grab.

i will see tomorrow what goes on.

thanks again.
