is the car on the ground? It wont look lowered until its sitting on the ground with the cars weight compressing the car all the way. For the record there isnt a difference in Si and DX shocks. I have 2 sets of each sitting in my garage

I was wondering the same thing about the rest of the suspension too. I may need some replacement parts for my Si but I didn't know if I could get them from other years and models.

Pretty much all suspension parts from SI to DX can be interchanged. If any of you are lowering your car, you shouldnt be dealing with stock OEM shocks anyway. Off the top of my head, the only diff between the 2 models are the fact the SI hatchbacks come with a rear sway bar and the DX's dont. SI's also come with holes tapped in the rear LCA for the hardware to attach the sway bar. DX rear LCA dont have this hole. Im not sure what model CRX's come with or without a rear sway bar.

My car is already lowered, things is I got suspension damage and I'll be going to the junkyard tomorrow but odds of finding an Si are slim to none. Just about every time I go I'll find a DX hb or sedan and I really dont know what cars they are interchangeable with however it seems to me that for the front the hubs would be the same for all civics hb and sedan and CRXs except the HF and the standard. I'll be hunting for the UCA,LCA, hub and possibly the radius rod for the passenger front. Please help and sorry to Hijack but this is still on the suspension interchangeability topic.

Look for 90-91 UCA's. DX or SI for the stuff u need dont matter, just avoid HF and STD like u said.

Suspension differences between DX and Si?

As far as I know, the only major difference is that the DX has no rear swaybar, nor any provision for installing one. The Si came with a stock rear antiroll bar (swaybar). The DX has neither the chassis mounts for the swaybar mounts, nor the provisions to bolt them on. Also, the lower control arms of the DX are different; they don't have the tapped holes for the swaybar endlinks to mount to.

'88 rear lower control arms are different for all CRX models in the US; there was a hasty redesign in '89 to eliminate lift-throttle oversteer issues on the cars.

So far as I know, those are the only real suspension differences between the DX and the Si.

It turns out the main problem is the rear engine crossmember. Now I know i'll find one at the junkyard, but same thing will it work for hatchy even if it comes off of the sedan chassi. What about all the available models, will it fit if its a ex civic or dx crx/civic sedan or hatchy? Thanks, and sorry for the Dumb ? I just dont want to pull it out just to find out its the wrong one.

The LCA in the rear is the same betweer the Si adn the DX....except the DX does not have the sway bar boss drilled and tapped for a swaybar....not hard to do as I have done it.

THe front is the same except for the Si steering rack is longer which has shorter tie rod ends than the DX uses.

How do I know.....well the SiR uses the same tie rod ends the DX uses as I have SiR front suspension and brakes...except for the trailing arm and LCA which will not work on a US market car.
