Aluminum shift bushings??
Who's got it on an EP3?
Is this a worth while project?
(for those of you who have driven one) Is that why the S2000 shifter feels stiff but good like that?

I have them on my ep3. It's worth it for the price, it does make difference in the feel of shifting. It feels really tight and precise. S2000 has short shifter, but if you get short shifter on ep3, I'm guessing you could get the same feel.
I got the JDM shifter from the DC5 ITR. It has metal bushings stock. I like it alot better. I know the gears alot better. but it does make it a bit notchier.
Yes, that is my point. The notchy feel that lets me know that Im really in gear and gives me the assurance that my bushings are not gonna fart out on me.
i got the bushing and the neuspeed SS it feels great the bushing made a good difference for the price and i just put in the shifter yesterday and its worth it. every gear is about a 1.5'' throw away from the last. and the shifter has very little play in gear.
i've heard there's a disadvantage on these bushings in the long run. besides it being notchy, it may also damage the reliablity of the transmission in some way. can anyone clarify that?

Its a nice little upgrade for cheap. But if you plan on getting a nuespeed short shifter you should do the install at once. Also the two make a great combination together and you defintely feel the difference from stock. Also getting an aftermarket shift **** thats shorter than stock will also make a difference in the feel when you shift.

well, there should be a reason why honda's using rubber/ metal OEM bushings. i read a post on here about the aluminum bushings beginning of this year. i can tell you a friend of mine just felt a meniscule difference between the 2. seems it was better factory for him. i still have mine sitting on the shelf.

Well, as far as the short shifter goes, that is a no go for me. I don't mind the longer throw. But my question is, how can bushings damage reliablity?
i can't tell you that from my experience offhand. i'm still too lazy to put them on. the friend i'm referring to is an avid RR driver. not a fan of it, had to take them off. as far as reliability, like i said, the thread was at the beginning of this year, when there was some debate to whether or not it may cause tranny defect or premature wear. it never really gave me enough info to support the assumptions, that's why i still bought them, and that's why i asked for some clarification. read up, my first post to this thread.

soft bushings take some of the stress off the transmission. solid bushings have no "give" and therefore put more stress on the transmission.
