ok guys im new here....but heres the deal, my girlfriend bought this 92 civic hatch CX and her brother took the motor out and droppeed a DX motor on it about 3 months ago....so its a CX body and DX motor....anyhow the problem is the car stall really bad like when you try to take off first gear or like for example when you're in the freeway and you down shift it would stall really bad...and other problem is when your in 5th gear and you punch the gas a little bit the check engine light would come on..today i tried cleaning throttle body and checking all the plugs everything seems to be in the right spot......so does anyone would know anything like this or have anyone experienced this before?????????

Sounds like a distributor problem to me. If you still have the CX dizzy lying around, toss it on there and see if it fixes the problem. Shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes.
