sooo...i'm burning coolant...and i'm thinking i have a blown head gasket.

this is how my oil cap looks after a short drive around the neighborhood.



could i be onto something?

 

yes...coolant shoudnt be in there...head gasket blown...you can prolly smell coolant out of the tailpipe too.

what year and how many miles are on the motor?
mine head blew on my civic at about 190,000 miles

 

Check the overflow reservoir

 

yea...i've been burning mad coolant....*sigh*

well at least i know the culprit.

time to rip the head off on monday.
check for head warpage while i'm at it?

would turning the car on do more damage?

 

check the compression on the cylinders

 

ive checked the compression recently, around 210 all the way across. i'm thinking its just a small leak.

 

overflow reservoir has been decreasing in coolant level with every time i turn the car on

 

did you check when the engine was warmed up or cold?

 

motor puff white smoke??? exhaust smell like coolant?? either way it shouldnt be milky like that under the filler cap.
