Do's and Don'ts
A few things I learned so far in a few months of owning a Teg.
If you've not got a CAI and you're degreasing the engine, then do cover up the inlet of the lead pipe going to the filter box. Cover up the distributor and alternator. I might be hard to start afterwards if you don't.
Don't touch the negative terminal of the battery and any of the dizzie leads at the same time while the car is running. The results aren't pleasant.
Don't use water displacement near the exhaust manifold. (Water displacement smokes a lot when exposed to high heat, and it doesn't look cool driving along while smoke's pouring out from under the hood).
Don't abide by the logic "If it doesn't work, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacing." Some things under there aren't meant to be forced.
(1990 Honda Integra XSi B16A) Don't waste time when the fuel needle's reading empty: it doesn't give much leeway.
~It's not the car that counts, it's the driver~

Why don't drive to shopping malls?
Yeah I've enjoyed the benefits of an alarm a few times now.
Auckland NZ (well, where I live in Auck anyway) tends to be a quiet place for thefts and vandalism, so I don't mind too much about a garage. I'm up a shared driveway anyway, and it's quite a distance from the street. But yeah, I can see what you mean.
I can appreciate full coverage as well. I haven't done anything stupid yet, so I haven't had to put a claim in.
My dad was driving my Teg with me a while ago, and since he's used to his nice quiet Maxima (3.0L V6, auto tranny) as soon as he got it to 100 (60mp/h) in 5th, he tried to change down to "6th" coz it revs at 3500, and quite loudly when you're going that fast. Only I've got a 5 speed, and his "6th" was reverse. Not cool. The tranny made the worst sound I've heard in my life, and I almost passed away.

That would look awesome.
Thanks for all the good advice!
Congratulations on your eighth post.

People have to learn somewhere don't they?? I'm not an old man yet, just coming in to the world of cars. I don't even have my full licence, and only had a car for about 3 months.
You guys didn't have to reply to it; there's probably other people that have better comments to make, so why didn't you just go and talk about your Garret T3's and Trust front-mounts?
I can't help it if you haven't got a sense of humour
